Kevin Berry
With over 10 years of collegiate experience and over 15 years of coaching and instruction experience, we are proud to welcome Kevin Berry to Coastal Elite Sports.
Kevin Berry played for the Cincinnati Reds Organization following his collegiate baseball career at Louisiana State University (where he played in the 1989 College World Series) and Northwestern State University. After two years of professional baseball, Berry traveled back to Northwestern State University, but this time as an assistant coach where he served as the pitching, outfield, hitting, and strength & conditioning coach. That year, Berry helped coach his team to a conference title with an overall record of 43-13 and had three players drafted to the MLB. In 1994, Berry took his expertise to the University of Alabama as the pitching and strength & conditioning coach under Head Coach Jim Wells and Lebaron Caruthers (Gene Stallings Strength Football Coach). During his time with the Crimson Tide, Berry had two All-Americans, two Mizuno Player of the Week (Nationally) and three players drafted to the MLB. Berry later took his experience to Okaloosa-Walton Community College as the recruiting coordinator, pitching, hitting, outfield, and strength & conditioning coach where he achieved many accolades and had 16 players drafted to the MLB in four years.
In 2001, Berry accepted a position with Yep Sports Management as the Director of Personnel for Major League Baseball where he specialized in pitching and hitting on a national level. After five years of national travel, Berry decided to take on the task to spread his baseball knowledge with the younger generation and accepted the head baseball coach position at Niceville High School (5A) where he led them to become a dominant force in high school baseball in the State of Florida. Berry was also able to assist 11 players achieve college scholarships in two years and had four players from his 2008 team later drafted to the MLB (1st Round (2008) Brett Devall (Braves), 2nd Round (2007) Jimmy Nelson (Brewers), 3rd Round (2006) Ryan Chaffe (Angels), 4th Round (2007) Austin Wood (Angels). Kevin spent the next three years as the Manager for the Marucci Florida Mustangs and Southland Colts (Travel Teams 15-18yr.) National Pitching Rover.
Since then, Berry has continued to give back to the youth as the Professional Baseball Instructor (Professional, Collegiate, High School, and under) for Coastal Thunder Athletics. In 2023, Berry established KB Athletics to continue to share his knowledge and passion of the game and create not only great baseball players, but well-rounded, great young men.
